Great Barr Community Hub gets the green light!

20th Walsall awarded £327,100

from the Big Lottery Fund

The news we have all been waiting for is finally here.

The Big Lottery Fund has awarded 20th Walsall Scout Group £327,100 towards the building of our ‘Great Barr Community Hub’.

As many of you will know, the Group has been working tirelessly over the last 15 years to raise funds for a permanent, customer built headquarters for the 20th Walsall. We’ve actually raised over £140,000 to secure the land, get planning permission and lay the foundations – but the final stage – funding the building remained out of our grasp. Until now!

Graham Smith, Group Scout Leader at the 20th Walsall Scout Group said: “We are absolutely thrilled that after 15 years of campaigning, we have finally secured the funding for the ‘Great Barr Community Hub’ from the ‘Big Lottery Fund’, the facilities at the ‘Hub’ will provide a safe and modern community centre for our local area.”
